Two of my new affinities: photography and oil paintings of Honeymoon Island, Florida
Hello,
My name is Jeanette Aydlette I recently retired as a School Counselor at Haycock Elementary School in Falls Church, Virginia, where I worked since 1993. Prior to coming to Haycock I was a school teacher for 8 years on several Army bases. I also taught at George Mason University as an adjunct professor the Group Counseling graduate course.
I believe that all children can be successful in school and in life, and my goal is to find that right combination of support and strategies to help them find that success. Since each child differs, each combination differs as well. I used my strengths, affinities and creativity to reach these goals.
I want to share my classroom guidance lessons with you, which provide practical, life long skills and strategies to assist students in their growth and development. In addition, this web site provides resources for school counselors in their work with teachers and parents. My blog will highlight my thoughts and different aspects as to the role of a school counselor.
I always treasure those special moments when students contact me as they reach milestones in their lives, such as graduation from high school or college, and share their successes with me after they leave Haycock. One of the things I will miss about being retired is keeping in touch with them.
When I retired, my husband and I moved to Florida. I have begun to explore other passions such as photography, painting, golf, and singing. I am also very active in my church and have co-authored two children's books.

Meet "Pandy"
During my 20 year stay at Haycock Elementary School in Falls Church, Va. I used a puppet as my side kick. Many of the mini guidance lessons are presented by Pandy. I was known by the kindergarten students as The Panda Lady.
